10 tips to apply to TechWomen

This article is the full translation in English of my interview “10 tips to apply to TechWomen” on Moubachir Silicon Valley Youtube Channel
/*my tips can work for other scholarships and exchange program */

1-Do your home work first ... Google it
Check website program, YouTube Channel,Linkedin profiles …
*I’m eligible to apply or not ?
*Program goals meet my personal goals.
*My values are OK with this program
*Exchange programs for me it is not go-to-go

2- You look for more information ...Network
*if you know program alumnae in your network , go and ask them your questions

*if you don't know alumnae ,put program name on LinkedIn and you’ll find alumnae, connect with them, ask your questions, look for advice
*Don’t be afraid if someone doesn't answer your message or hides information, don’t take it personal

3- Work on your application
Application could be hard in the beginning start by the easiest question, it makes you feel comfortable.
Write your ideas, write your brainstorming on word, do not try to be perfect from the beginning
Tell your story
Share your small actions that could be big achievements so do not underestimate yourself
Brand yourself, Show your motivation, let your curiosity talk
Share clear objectives
Share realistic project
Go straight to the point

4- Write on Word and Save on email ,Google drive, hard drive
5- Don’t copy and paste previous application
If you ask alumna to send you her/his application, try to have an idea ,get inspiration to build your own application
Avoid copy and paste because they look for UNIQUE Profiles and AUTHENTIC emerging leaders

6- Ask for Review
Give to someone close to you to read, friend, mentor, teacher….for 2 reasons
*they can correct your typing or English mistakes
* they can give you new insights

7- Reference letter
When you request recommendation letter ,don’t send your request to anyone
You should choose a person who knows you and you have common activities like those of the program
Customize your request for recommendation ...it's very IMPORTANT

8- Don’t be afraid to receive NO
I wasn’t selected in 2016 TechWomen and many other programs.
It is OK and I do not quit

9- Build your profile
Improve your english
Work on your Skills
Live new experiences,: volunteering, conferences, part time job, Internships…
They choose people depending on :
*their capacity to Network
*their capacity to create positive impact in their community
*their capacity to build their own business and initiatives

10- Stay connected to discover new opportunities
Facebook, LinkedIn, People and opportunities websites
